We Live Longer Together
Our Story: The Birth of Social Longevity
We are sisters, each with unique expertise — one rooted in biology and neuroscience, the other in social work. But our shared experience, one deeply personal and transformative, is what led us to the creation of Social Longevity. When our father was diagnosed with a terminal illness in his 60s, our worlds shifted. We found ourselves facing the harsh reality of his declining health, and that’s when our focus turned to something deeper: how we can help people not just live longer, but live better.
As we began researching ways to improve health and extend life, we were overwhelmed by the vast number of products and services claiming to be the key to longevity — from the intensity of CrossFit to the mysticism of crystals. There seemed to be endless promises, but what we lacked was a clear, scientifically-backed approach that tied it all together. Most of these solutions focused on individual factors — diet, exercise, or supplements — but they overlooked something incredibly powerful: the profound impact of social connection on our physical and emotional well-being.
That’s when the realization hit us: social connection is the key to longevity.
The science was clear — humans are wired for connection. Our relationships, the support systems we cultivate, and the bonds we build with others can have a greater effect on our health than any workout routine or supplement. This was the missing link we were searching for. The research in both neuroscience and social work overwhelmingly pointed to one truth: strong, meaningful relationships are foundational to not just surviving, but thriving.
Driven by this insight, we founded Social Longevity with a single mission: to provide an evidence-based approach to longevity, one that emphasizes the science of social connection and its direct impact on physical and emotional health. We wanted to create a platform that empowers individuals to prioritize meaningful social relationships as part of a holistic approach to aging well. It’s not about being perfect or following the latest trend; it’s about fostering genuine human connections that nurture and sustain our well-being through all stages of life.
In our journey, we’ve come to understand that longevity is not just about how long we live — it’s about the quality of the life we live. And the quality of our life is often deeply intertwined with the people we surround ourselves with, the support we offer one another, and the joy we find in each other’s company. Social Longevity is our commitment to helping people recognize the value of these connections and integrate them into their health journey, creating stronger, happier, and longer lives for all.
